Brad Pitt is arguably one of the most famous actors in the world – for his efforts on and off the screen. Pitt began his career with a recurring role on the television show Dallas. His first film role was in The Dark Side of the Sun, and after that he went on to act in several lesser known films such as Too Young To Die?, and Across the Tracks, before being chosen for a supporting role in Thelma and Louise, a role which not only generated broader public attention for him, but also sealed his status as a sex symbol.
Pitt’s next big film was Interview with the Vampire, which saw him act alongside Tom Cruise, Kirsten Dunst (who was only eleven at the time), Christian Slater, and Antonia Banderas. As a result of his performance, Pitt earned two awards at the 1995 MTV Movie Awards for Best Male Performance and Most Desirable Male.
In 1994, Pitt starred in Legends of the Fall, a role that earned him his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. It was in 1996 that Pitt won his first Golden Globe and was nominated for his first Academy Award for his performance in the hit Sleepers, starring Kevin Bacon and Robert DeNiro. From here, Pitt moved to bigger films such as Meet Joe Black, Fight Club, The Mexican, and Spy Games. He then took on lead roles in the Ocean’s series, 11, 12 and 13.
In 2005, Pitt starred in Mr and Mrs Smith, where he acted alongside his now partner Angelina Jolie. Since then, he was in the film Babel – which clocked up a total of seven Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations, one of which was for Pitt. In that same year he produced The Departed, which won Best Film.
More recently, he has starred in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Burn After Reading, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Pitt has dated several high profile celebrities, including Juliette Lewis, Gwyneth Paltrow (whom he was engaged to), and Jennifer Aniston – whom he was married to for seven years. Aniston and Pitt went through a highly publicised divorce, of which Angelina Jolie was at the centre of. Their divorce was finalised in 2005 and Jolie and Pitt officially became a couple shortly after. The pair are parents to six children, three of which are adopted (Maddox, Zahara, and Pax), and three that are biological (Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox).
