Heath Ledger was born in Perth in 1979, and had been interested in acting ever since performing in a school production of Peter Pan when he was ten years old. Ledger featured in a series of Australian televisions shows and films, such as Clowning Around, Sweat, Ship to Shore, Roar, Home and Away, and Black Rock.
In 1998, Ledger moved to America to pursue a professional acting career. In 1999, he starred in the romantic comedy 10 Things I Hate About You, and his career sky rocketed from there. Films that followed including the following titles, The Patriot Games, Monster’s Ball, A Knight’s Tale, Ned Kelly, Casanova, The Brothers Grimm, Lords of Dogtown, Brokeback Mountain, Candy, I’m Not There, and The Dark Knight.
Ledger has held a series of high profile relationships with popular actresses. From 2000 – 2001, he dated Heather Graham, and once that relationship finished he dated Naomi Watts from 2002 – 2004. He then met Michelle Williams on the set of Brokeback Mountain, they dated up until 2007 during which time they had a daughter together, Matilda Rose. After his engagement to Michelle ended, Ledger dated several supermodels such as Helena Christensen and Gemma Ward, and was also rumoured to have dated former child actor Mary-Kate Olsen.
Ledger died at the age of twenty-eight, due to an accidental overdose of prescription medication.
