Gordon Ramsey is a world renowned celebrity chef. He was born on 8 November 1966 in Johnstone, Scotland. He grew up playing football, however he was plagued with injuries throughout his football career, and he had to finally give it up in 1984 after doing some serious damage to the cartilage in his knee and tearing some ligaments.

He already had a keen interest in cooking, however he became more focused on it after giving up football. Ramsey then enrolled in a local college to study Hotel Management. His culinary career soon took off, with Ramsey working as commis chef at the Wroxton House Hotel. After that, he ran the kitchen and the dining room at the Wickham Arms, and then moved to London, where he worked in a series of restaurants until finally settling at Harveys working for Marco Pierre White.

He worked at Harveys for two years before leaving to work at a restaurant called Le Gavroche in Mayfair. Ramsey then moved to France to train for three years, also serving a stint on a yacht in Bermuda as a personal chef.

In 1993, he returned to London and took up a position at a restaurant as head chef and in 1998 he opened up his first restaurant of his own in Chelsea, and has since opened over eight more.

Ramsey is one of only three chefs in the UK to maintain three Michelin Guide stars for his restaurant, and currently has a total of four Michelin stars. His debut into television started with his documentaries Boiling Point and Beyond Boiling Point, in 1998 and 2000 respectively. Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares followed, along with Hell’s Kitchen, and then The F-Word – in which Ramsey’s passion for expletives features heavily.

Despite his tendency to swear, Ramsey has often been portrayed as a family man. He met his with Tana, who is a school teacher, in 1996. Together they have four children, Megan, Jack and Holly (who are twins), and Matilda. However, only recently Ramsey has been accused of having a long-term affair with professional mistress Sarah Symonds. Ramsey is currently denying the affair, and his wife Tana is so far standing firmly by his side.
